Child's Play Reboot Launches Fake Website For Buddi Doll
Ahead of the film's release in the summer, Orion Pictures has launched a fake Buddi doll website to promote its forthcoming Child's Play reboot.
The website, which you can visit by heading here, gives fans a look at the latest iteration of their favorite killing doll. Along with the new look and name, Buddi not only connects with all of your Kaslan products, but it also comes equipped with a highly cloud-backed voice recognition engine. Even more impressive? Buddi comes equipped with the ability to fluently comprehend and converse in both English and Spanish, with the ability to expand the doll's language recognition through the Kaslan Language Acquisition App. The most notable addition to the Buddi doll, though, is the fact that it now works through Wi-Fi.
In order to truly add to the experience, the website also has a letter from Henry Kaslan, himself teasing the launch of the Buddi doll in June 2019.
"We at Kaslan take great pride in our unwavering focus to revolutionize technology in ways that positively impact the lives of friends across the world. And this, my friends, is our proudest moment," the letter reads. "We’ve taken all of our research and learnings and applied them to create not only the most high-tech and interactive toy on the market, but a companion to be enjoyed by the whole family. Every child is important to us, and every child deserves a best friend, so we at Kaslan made it our top priority to build one."
While the website does make it a point to let fans know you can't actually pre-order a Buddi doll as advertised, fans can download various phone wallpapers, including a couple of festive options. You can also sign up for notifications, if you feel so inclined, to be the first to hear about any forthcoming announcements for the film. There's also a link to Kaslan Corp. However, that website is currently under construction.
Child's Play, which will mark the eighth entry into the long-running franchise, is directed by Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) from a script by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury 2). The reboot stars Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman. The film is slated to hit theaters on June 21, 2019.
