www.cbr.com/tomb-raider-sequel-writer-reveals-potential-title/Tomb Raider Sequel Writer Reveals Potential Title Tomb Raider sequel screenwriter and director Misha Green reveals the potential title for the upcoming project on social media. BY NARAYAN LIU PUBLISHED 1 HOUR AGO The 2017 video game film adaptation, Tomb Raider, has a sequel currently in development. While progress has been hindered by a variety of different issues ranging from changes to its director and writers, Tomb Raider 2 now has a potential title and more. The film's current director and writer Misha Green recently teased that her first draft for the film has been completed. Green posted an image of the cover page, which featured a title for the film, Tomb Raider: Obsidian, though it has yet to be approved. "Still a long journey to production. Title's not even approved... But first draft finished!!!" The screenwriter stated. Green was brought on to the project in January, following the departure of Ben Wheatley and writer Amy Jump. The Tomb Raider sequel was originally scheduled to enter production in April 2020, with its release scheduled for March 19, 2021. The project was forced to be delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with MGM eventually removing the film from its release schedule entirely owing to worldwide theater closures. Tomb Raider hit theaters in 2018 to mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. The film grossed $274.7 million worldwide on a budget of $90 million. The movie adapted the events of characters of Square Enix's 2013 video game of the same name, as well as Rise of the Tomb Raider. While details of the sequel are scare, it was previously reported that the second film instalment would adapt Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Written and directed by Misha Green, Tomb Raider 2 stars Alicia Vikander. The film currently has no release date.
